Overview
The Van's RV-10 is the only four-seat aircraft in the RV line and one of the most successful four-seat homebuilt designs ever produced. First flown in 2003, over 1,010 RV-10s have been completed — an extraordinary number for a four-seat experimental. The RV-10 brought Van's trademark performance and efficiency to the four-seat cross-country mission.
The RV-10 seats four in a side-by-side front row with two rear passengers. It's powered by a six-cylinder Lycoming IO-540 at 260HP, providing 171 KTAS cruise with 1,070 lbs useful load — matching or exceeding many certified four-seat aircraft at significantly lower operating cost. With 60 gallons of fuel, range is 717 nm at 75% power.
The RV-10 is nosewheel-only (no tailwheel option) and is not aerobatic. It's designed purely as a cross-country touring and family aircraft — the practical side of the RV line.

The RV-10 has no sub-variants — it's a single design optimized for one mission. However, builder choices create significant variation: engine options range from 210HP (IO-390) to 260HP (IO-540), though the vast majority use the IO-540.
