Where a line shows a range, the total, per-hour and per-mile figures use its midpoint— insurance moves most with your experience and time in type, hangar with where you base the aircraft, so your own number could sit at either end. Annual inspection is the shop's labor to open and inspect — what they find is the maintenance line, which covers oil changes, plugs, tires, brakes, hoses, lights, a battery and vacuum pump amortised over their life, and the unscheduled squawks that are the largest and least predictable part of it. The 1980-1995 Piper PA-32-301 Saratoga is the fixed-gear sibling of the retractable Saratoga SP. It replaced the Cherokee Six 300 (1965-1979) with refined tapered wing aerodynamics and modernized cabin while keeping fixed landing gear for lower insurance and maintenance cost.
Approximately 1,800 Saratoga fixed-gear units were produced. The line was succeeded in 1995-1997 by an updated Saratoga II model, which continued production with refinements through 2009.
