Overview
The Tecnam P2002/P2008/P2010 family spans three distinct regulatory categories from a single Italian manufacturer, providing a unique upgrade path from LSA to certified four-seat aircraft. Performance
P2010 180HP (Lycoming IO-360-M1A): Cruises at 137 KTAS at 75% power burning 11.9 GPH. Real-world operators report approximately 130–134 KTAS in normal cruise conditions with leaned mixture. AOPA fly test documented 10.4 GPH. Rate of climb is 841 FPM — modest for 180 HP, partly attributable to the high-wing drag and fixed-pitch propeller standard. The MkII (215HP, constant-speed prop) addresses this with 1,100 FPM climb and 146 KTAS cruise. The 63-gallon fuel capacity provides 720 nm range with VFR reserves, or up to 1,050 nm in the diesel TDI. Service ceiling of 13,000 ft (18,000 ft turbocharged/TDI) is adequate for most VFR operations but marginal for crossing high terrain IFR.
